Is this the SLOWEST pulsar ever found?! Or something else...?
AD - Go to ground.news/drbecky to stay fully informed with the latest Space and Science news. Subscribe through my link to get 40% off the Vantage plan for unlimited access this month only. | Neutron stars are some of the most extreme objects in the universe that we can see - the only thing you can get more extreme is a black hole. And when we find neutron stars, they tend to be spinning faster than once a second! Which is why this month when a paper by Caleb and collaborators was published reporting on the discovery of a possible neutron star with pulses of radio light detected once every 54 minutes, the entire astronomy community, went, wait? what? Is it really a pulsar? Spinning that s...

Pedantic point: * Electrical devices convert electrical energy into other forms of energy like heat, light, sound, etc. * Electronic devices manipulate electrical current internally through switches. * Electrical devices use electricity merely as energy, while electronic devices use electricity as the medium for manipulating information. * All electronic devices are also electrical devices, but not all electrical devices are electronic devices. So far as the movie concerned, thank you for saving me from watching it! They should have staged it in a fantasy world that has Hobbits with rockets. Then they could just go "Hey, it's a magical universe! Stuff happens!".

Time is huge We always struggle to wrap our brains around it. If aliens did have space ships and they stopped by only 1 million years ago, homo sapiens weren't sapiens yet. If they stop by in the future, 1 million years from now, will we exist or will a supernova stripped out atmosphere and killed us all? Will those same aliens become sentient in 100 million years? Look up at the sky and wonder if we exist? Yet the Voyager probe passed them only 500yrs before they got technology to see it? Time is just impossible to fathom

This assumption that the cmb is this "first light" when we are seeing fully developed metal laden galaxies at z=16 is really...... presumptuous. Neutron decay cosmology. The path of least action, physical process solution to black hole paradoxes, dark energy, dark matter and critical density maintenance. A homeostatic but locally evolving universe maintained by the reciprocal processes of electron capture at event horizons and free neutron decay in deep voids. Neutrons in at event horizon Take EinsteinRosen bridge from highest energy pressure conditions to lowest energy density points of space where the quantum basement is lowest and easiest to penetrate. Neutrons out in deep voids where they decay into amorphous monatomic hydrogen, proton electron soup, Dark matter. The decay from neutron 0.6fm³ to 1m³ of amorphous hydrogen is a volume increase of around 10⁴⁵. Expansion. Dark energy. In time this amorphous hydrogen stabilizes and coalesces and falls...... towards an event horizon.

I don’t try to claim this is any explanation, maybe at best a popularization. I recall on some youtube video not very long ago a demonstration of a rotating part with 3 different length main axes flipping its rotation from one axis to another. That meant different rotation speeds. Hmmm, don’t blame my too wild imagination!

I get that Pop III stars can be bigger; however, I don't understand why there could not be Pop III red dwarfs that have just been sitting in their dim corners for most of the history of the universe. Should it not have been possible for smaller stars to form out of H & He?
